Who We Are...

Hi, welcome to our blog! We are a group of students in a journalism reporting class at Colorado State University. We write beats about things on campus and other stories that are local to the Fort Collins area. If you have any questions just leave us a comment.

The Writers:

Logan Martinez
I am a sophomore journalism student aspiring to be a magazine publisher. I write a beat about Design and Merchandising at CSU and around FoCo. Check out my other blog at logansmess.blogspot.com.

Tom Mullen
I'm a junior journalism major at CSU. I love reading, playing video games and spending time with my friends. I also watch way too much television and I hope to someday work in something television related. I love chatting and making new friends so don't be afraid to say hi! The beat I write deals with local and national Student Employment. Be sure to check it out and leave me some feedback!!

Colleen Canty
I'm a sophomore journalism major with a minor in French. Pourquoi le Francais? Good question. I like words: speaking them, reading them, writing them, hearing them. I also like the mountains. I sound like Muffy Crosswire from Arthur and I would love to go into radio. Check out my beat on social media in the university setting. Cheers!

 Jonathan Pait
I am a junior journalism major with a minor in political science. However, I spend a majority of my time with video games. I love just about every aspect of video games. When I'm not playing video games, I'm usually writing, cooking, listening to music, or making fun of politicians with my friends. My beat is with technology, so if you don't read it, you're a Luddite. And who wants to be a Luddite?

 Austin Briggs
I'm a journalism major with an emphasis in newswriting/editorial.  I'm getting a minor in English and want to go overseas to teach at some point. Besides reading and writing, I enjoy spending time in the mountains and seeing live music. I'm something of political junkie, so it wasn't hard choosing my beat  for this class.

 Chance Johnson
I am a senior journalism major in the direction of news/ed.  My interest is in writing about social issues, current events, politics, music, and art.  I would love to write for a publication regarding these subjects, writing editorial pieces.  Eventually, I would move this into a radio format.  I am sharing the political beat with Austin Briggs.  Currently you can read my weekly column in the Rocky Mountain Collegian.  I am also enjoying an internship with Clear Channel's 600 KCOL Fox News Radio.

Natasha Leadem
I am a sophomore journalism major with a minor in Spanish. I want to travel the world and experience different cultures, and more importantly I would like to write about it. I hope to one day work for a magazine that will let me do just that.
I love anything that has to do with mountains: skiing, rock climbing, four-wheeling, you name it.  My beat is focused around the outdoors.

James Reyes
I am a junior journalism major, minoring in history. I am a big sports fan and would ultimately like to work for ESPN. I am a DJ for KCSU, the student-run radio station at CSU. My beat for this blog is local nonprofits. When I'm not doing school work, I'm usually reading, playing video games, or browsing Reddit.

Corinne Winthrop
Corinne's the name, journalism's the game. I'm a sophomore double major in journalism and communication studies. I like swimming in my free time and I write stories and design pages for CSU's student run magazine, College Avenue. My beat is on environmentally friendly programs and sustainability around campus.

Donna Rouner
I'm Donna Rouner, professor of Journalism and Technical Communication, who teaches the class featured on this web log. I hope to promote my students' publishing excellent journalism here and elsewhere this semester and beyond.

 Casey Nimmer

Hey, I'm Casey. I'm a double major in studies and journalism with a concentration in broadcast news and a minor in anthropology. I am graduating this year and hope to go on to either London, New York, or California to work on documentaries regarding social issues around the world for non-profit organizations. In my spare time I make promos, music videos, demo reels, profiles, and anything else people want/need.

Brittany Lancaster
Writing has always been a part of my life.  Even as a scrawny towhead, freckle-faced little girl I possessed a passion for self-expression. I experimented with things from painting and crafts, to singing and dancing.  Above all, however, my small plastic purple spiral bound journal secured my most natural creative expression, writing. This notebook contained my prayers, doodles, songs, and poetry.  It was where I thought things through; it was where I grew up. My love of writing has lead me to my Junior year at CSU as a journalism major and an anthropology minor. I am fascinated by people, by what makes them tick and sharing their stories. I love anything that has to do with being outside: running, hiking, biking, being part of nature and taking photographs of it.

Chris Lindsey
I am a Sophomore Journalism major with a minor in Business.  I love hanging out with my friends and playing sports and other outside activities.  I've enjoyed Journalism since early high school; however, I have a different intent than going into traditional Journalism.  I would like to concentrate my major into Public Relations and Advertising--the business side of Journalism.
